The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. That is why we seek first His kingdom and all these things will be added later. In business we seek to be used of God and His kingdom while providing a comfortable life for ourselves and family, and if we do this right for our legacy too. I have give my business to God, and now not only do I do this as unto the Lord, but he is the chairman of the company. Whether your company be large or small you too can give it to God. Through diligent study of both godly principles and business principles I have developed change management strategies that can help you in your role as business owner or business leader over to God, moving companies through a maturity process from Me Motive, to Profit Motive, Mission Motive, and finally Purpose Motive.

Proverbs 1
Purpose
2 for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight;
3 for receiving instruction in prudent behavior, doing what is right and just and fair;
4 for giving prudence to those who are simple, knowledge and discretion to the young—
5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance—
6 for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Warning Against the Invitation of Sinful Men
8 Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
9 They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.
10 My son, if sinful men entice you, do not give in to them.
11 If they say, “Come along with us; let’s lie in wait for innocent blood, let’s ambush some harmless soul;
12 let’s swallow them alive, like the grave, and whole, like those who go down to the pit;
13 we will get all sorts of valuable things and fill our houses with plunder;
14 cast lots with us; we will all share the loot”—
15 my son, do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths;
16 for their feet rush into evil, they are swift to shed blood.
17 How useless to spread a net where every bird can see it!
18 These men lie in wait for their own blood; they ambush only themselves!
19 Such are the paths of all who go after ill-gotten gain; it takes away the life of those who get it.
Wisdom’s Rebuke
20 Out in the open wisdom calls aloud, she raises her voice in the public square;
21 on top of the wall[d] she cries out, at the city gate she makes her speech:
22 “How long will you who are simple love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?
23 Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings.
24 But since you refuse to listen when I call and no one pays attention when I stretch out my hand,
25 since you disregard all my advice and do not accept my rebuke,
26 I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you; I will mock when calamity overtakes you—
27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you.
28 “Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me,
29 since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the LORD.
30 Since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke,
31 they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.
32 For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them;
33 but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.”

“Lee Biles and I worked together at Hewitt Associates. He was always a mentor and the Go-to person for me, whenever I had issues with any of the applications being used at Hewitt.
Real Estate Consultant Keller Williams Realty

“In this tough real estate market, Lee helped us sell our house in three days! He had creative marketing ideas and marketed from many different angles, and made us feel like we were his only clients. He was responsive and responsible, and we really appreciated having him to rely on for the sale of our previous home as well as the purchase of our new home.” April 2, 2008 Top qualities: Great Results, High Integrity, Creative 1 st Leanne Goplen Zabriskie, hired Lee as a Real Estate Agent in 2007, and hired Lee more than once

“I haven’t hired Lee but recommending him as a service provider is the best of the choices. I did have the pleasure of working with Lee for six weeks in 2007.

I was his trainer in pretty much the toughest sales training course that exists in the real estate industry. Lee took every session seriously and worked tirelessly to put his new skills to work. Some of my students just give up when it gets tough, but not Lee. That’s maybe the biggest reason I’d recommend him as a Realtor and have no hesitation hiring him were I to need an agent myself in the Houston area.” January 16, 2008 Top qualities: Great Results, Personable, High Integrity 1 st Jason Edwards, hired Lee as a Real Estate Agent in 2007

President University of Texas at Austin Economics Association (UTEA)

“Through his vision, leadership skills, and drive, Lee took an organization that lacked membership and credibility and grew it into one of the primier organizations in the University.” February 9, 2006 1 st David Rockwell, worked directly with Lee at University of Texas at Austin Economics Association (UTEA)

“This man is the classic leader. Everything he said about being the President of UTEA is accurate and true, albeit a little modest. He organized a working relationship with the Liberal Arts Career Center at University of Texas at Austin, and steered the increase of membership more than he indicates. I became an officer of UTEA after I met Lee in one of our classes. Cheers.” February 9, 2006 1 st Robert Chu, reported to Lee at University of Texas at Austin Economics Association (UTEA)

Pay attention I have something worth listening to; listen and find these words insightful so that you may maintain discretion and you speak the truth.

You know the slick net-worker with sweet words and smooth speech. He in the end their words leave you bitter and cut down. Each word and move he makes will lead to your destruction. He takes no regard for your benefit and he does not even see the problem with what he is doing.
Now listen closely to what I am trying to say. Stay away from him do not go where he hangs out so that you don’t give network to his influence or give your time to his network who will waste it and take advantage of your wealth only to work to enrich themselves. Trust me, at the end of your life you will regret wasting of your time and body.

Live off your own work and not the leftovers of others and when you blessing overflow don’t let strangers benefit from your success. Let it be yours alone to share with your network your pure and honest work. It will keep you young and satisfied. The reward will keep you engaged.
So why would you want to be a part of these? Pretending to be someone else; playing someone else’s game. God sees everything you do. These ways will catch up to him, and he will be held back by is short cuts. He will eventually be destroyed by his own lack of discipline and misled by his lies.

(a rewrite of Proverbs 5 by Lee Biles for Networking)

Matthew 6:24 (New International Version)
24″No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

1 Kings 18:21 (New International Version)
21 Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing.

Decide today, what proof do you need to decide between the two.
If you serve Money do it right. Gather all you can stop giving. Loose your ethical standards so that you can get all you can. Anything less than all out focus on getting would not make sense if that is the point in life? Why are you soft in giving to others or letting others take from you. If the point of life is this why do you waste time on love or family? Why do you bother to go to church or volunteer if it does not profit you anything. If material goods is the winning hand why would you be anything less than all in?

If you serve God do it right. Give all you have to Him. Guard your heart from anything that is not of God. You should be giving all you have to others taking only your needed provisions for yourself. If the point of life is to love God you should cherish your family and spend all your time worshiping God with them. You should never forsake the gatherings of church and should volunteer your all the time you have left. If serving God is the winning hand why would you be anything less than all in?

Decide today and be all in: God or Money!
Please say something.

Ever wonder if you will ever find a job you love? If you answered yes I am doing that work now. Congratulations you are in the minority. Some estimate that over 80% of the American workforce do not love their job. So why do so many work jobs they do not love?

Let me start with Adam in the Garden of Eden, who had it made no job but all he could eat, and all the Father asked if he would spend time with Him every once in a while. (That might sound familiar to some of you all parents of teenagers) But he rebelled and one of his curses was that now he has got to go to work. (Daddy kicked him out of the house)

I don’t mean to be sacrilegious when I wright this because the next part of the story has a deeper meaning about sacrifice and offerings, curses and justice. Today let’s see if there also might be a daily principle here too for how we approach work. When does work become a blessing not a curse? Ah this is the very next story and its to die for. Cain and Abel, and if you have not heard this one spoiler alert Cain kills Abel (Genesis 4)

Cain’s approach to work:
Step 1. Cain became disengaged, to put it nicely, in his work, when God did not accept it.
Step 2. Ignored God’s warning, I’ll paraphrase, Hey! Why are you angry and disengaged? If you would of just done what you were supposed to do your work would have been accepted too. But if you continue to take short cuts, unethical opportunities will find you and they will take you down. You got to get yourself under control!
Step 3. The opportunity came and he wiped out his competition. Because he did this God cursed him so that he would not, again putting it lightly, be successful again.

In summary, rejoice in your brother’s success. Do not become jealous, that makes things worse for you, and leads you to make more grievous mistakes. Like wiping out your competition. Nope, God ain’t going to bless that, He is going to curse it.

Abel’s approach to work:
Sorry his part of this story was quite brief, but let me speculate a little.
Step 1. Abel kept flocks, he had to lead at work not as Cain may have had to beat the earth.
Step 2. Able gave the good stuff to God. He presented his best to God. (who knows if it was any good, but God will always bless you giving your best to Him)
Step 3. Able gave his future to God. Able gave the first born of his livestock to God. He could not know for certain that there would be a second born. That could have been it. Unless God blessed him that was the end of his livelihood.

Connecting your job to His work…
Colossians 3:22-24 (New International Version)

22Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. 23Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

My three points and a poem:
1. Always do your best at your work because, you work for God not man.
2. Celibrate your bother’s success, do not try to wipe out your competition. Take heed to God’s correction.
3. Give your furture to God only He can control your future sucess or failure and you will recieve an inheritance from the Lord as your reward.

Lord, I pray I do my best at work, even without praises
Lord, I pray you bless my work even when the boss does not give raises
Lord, I pray you bless my boss even when he brings me trouble
Lord, I pray you give me favor and even my brother double
Lord, I pray you give me challenges that I take even without a groan
Lord, I pray I do my best at work, even with a future unknown

What makes an employee fully engaged and make break through change in an organization?
I would say it starts with people that love their jobs. So how do we get our employee who love their job. I my humble opinion it starts when we create jobs that love them back. I had this light bulb go off a while back when reading about love languages, but it really hit home when reading The Five Love Languages of Children for applying notion of love languages with our children.

Parenting to me is to me in many respects like leadership in business. For those that know me know about me having a toddler at home. (I am not trying to imply my employees act as toddlers, though I may have had a few in my past.) I use this parallel to help me be a better parent as well as a better manager. I try my best to love my employees. Now side bar, will I every be able to love my employees the same as I love my children. Well, to be honest, no but I challenge you in Christ that maybe we should as we are all children of God. That is a debate for a future later.

So how do we create a workplace on loving your employees? In past postings I wrote on “the love cat way”, that you love your employees by sharing your knowledge, network, and resources. But this alone never seemed to be the complete story to me as I began to share these with people I realized the how I shared them was almost more important that what I was sharing and that is when I made the connection to the five love languages. How do you show you love them?
Granted some of the love languages being expressed at work crosses the line and we have the issues that come with work place romance. So to be clear I am not talking about a romantic love, but a love that puts their needs above your needs.

This can only be done with everyone on the same page of the clear purpose of the organization.
We create HR’s departments around the world are trying to find people to fill their ranks using gauges to find if people are able to preform to the to the fullest the role to fill. Never once in all my readings or experience have I seen the the measure of management how well they keep their employee emotional tanks full by having knowledge of how to know their employee’s love language and use that knowledge to love them appropriately.

We hire fired up highly skilled and passionate people only to let them fizzle away at “doing what they love,” well, not for long. In our relationships love for someone does not last long without that person showing love back. In the same way we need to keep our employee’s emotions toward work full. I have not seen anyone do an interpretation of how your “love language” is expressed at work and communicating success or failure. Do not mistake love for reward/repremand as the The Five Love Languages of Children discusses this a manipulative love and is easily detected as counterfit. This the basic unconditional love thank you for choosing to be a part of the company. I would love to to hear from you out their how a manager has inspired your performance or totally disengaged you with a critic that came in your love language and how that impacted your love of your job?

-Lee

I caught myself watching some incredibly bad tv last night, “Masters of Illusion: Impossible Magic”.

OK the show was bad but it made me think about things we find magical.
We all know people that seem to pull off magic on a consistent basis, and I am not talking about magicians. People in our family, people at church, and people at work that constantly pull of the impossible and some how produce magic.

As I watch these tricks, some were impressive and some were not. Those tricks that seem impressive did something you do not see how to they could do it. To create magic in the work place all you have to do the incredibly simple in conditions that seem impossible and then keep it a secret. A magician bends the perceived requirements that seem impossible to make room to do the incredibly simple steps to get there. This takes skills and ability to look beyond the impossible requirements to see a path to break down the problem into small steps that are completely possible.

So next time you see a mess of a problem or a simple problem in seemly impossible conditions, stop take it a little slower out think the problem. Bend the requirements to make room for a solution. Then put on your magician’s hat and wand, call on a couple of beautiful assistants and start the magic.
